2002

Probably The Best Year Ever

This would probably be more authentic as a LiveJournal, but whatever.

Eminem - The Eminem Show (2002)

Eminem was probably at his peak in 2002. Why? Because The Eminem Show and 8 Mile y’all. I’m pretty sure I would hear “Without Me” on the alternative rock radio station I listened to almost exclusively even though they usually didn’t play rap. And “Sing For the Moment” I remember being played at this school-sponsored party in eighth grade.

And don’t even get me started on how amazing 8 Mile is. I mean Em makes up new lyrics to “Sweet Home Alabama” and then starts rapping because you know obviously that is what that movie’s about or something. My only disappointment—spoiler alert—was that he doesn’t actually sing “Lose Yourself” in the movie; it just plays over the end credits. Like, c’mon, that would have been so awesome if you just sang that whole awesome song to your rap battle opponent.

Also, can I just say that it is completely awesome that freakin’ Xzibit is in that movie? I want to go back in time and be friends with Eminem in 2002 just so I can meet Xzibit and have him pimp my ride—not that I even have a ride to pimp.
